OneTrip

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Although there are multiple modes of transport, there are people who are unaware of the options available to them. Imagine a stand-alone public transport app that integrates all modes of transport available as of now. The emphasis will be on public transport but could also include other modes like walking, cycling, driving & integration with other apps that help commute.
Context

As part of a personal project,
I have written this case study

What is OneTrip ?

OneTrip is a conceptual interactive prototype to help people with their day to day travelling from one place to another which integrates all modes of transport available as of now.

What makes OneTrip unique?

The main constraint was to make a go-to app where you could get all possible travel options arranged according to your needs.

DESIGN PROCESS

1. Understanding the cab industry's current situation

Play store reviews help identify current pain points and challenges faced by the users.

1.  Travelling app users who faced problems would have provided feedback in the form of reviews or complaints, and they might have tried to resolve the issue themselves.
2.  I checked the Google reviews of Google Maps, Ola, Uber, Tummoc, etc which are the current solutions, to understand the pain points..

What are users saying?
After reading a lot of reviews, the most common problems faced by people is

2. Identifying the target audience and their behaviour

Defining the criteria of your target audience helps to ensure that products, services, communication, etc. , are relevant, useful and compelling in meeting their needs and expectations.

Who are the users?
The majority of cab users are

How often do people use cabs?
The majority of people use cabs on an occasional basis.

3. Empathizing with the user

Based on the Research papers, identified 2 main participants in the story: Employee And Student.

The User personas helped me gain a deeper understanding of the user's perspective and goals

4.  Discovering User Goals

Using User stories to create a realistic, concrete, and shared image of the user

What are the user goals?

5.  Map the Key User flows

User flows helped me to identify key actions within the app and the screens to focus on first.

6.  Designing a solution prototype

Based on the research, people occasionally use online taxi services, so I designed the design similarly to Lyft so users would be able to adapt quickly.
  1. The Save on money feature helps arrange the taxis in such a way that the cheapest taxi is displayed at the top and the price is highlighted.
  2. The Save on time feature helps arrange the taxis in such a way that the quickest taxi is displayed at the top and the time is highlighted.
  3. Based on departure time, buses are arranged in order of availability.
  4. With the rise in Electric Vehicles, a separate section dedicated to Electric vehicles rentals.
  5. One can view all their travel history for different cab service apps to manage their expenses.
